The story of SANTA MONICA begins with its founder, Steven Lau, whose first career chapter kept him in the air for most of the year, moving from country to country and coastline to coastline. Each time he returned home, he would carefully choose distinctive fragrances and eyewear from his travels to share with his family, and in time became one of the early curators introducing refined international perfume houses and optical brands to Hong Kong and mainland China.

Years spent tracing winding horizons left him with countless dawns engraved in memory: the first gleam breaking over the sea, where sky and water dissolve into one horizon, and both senses and spirit slowly awaken. From these sunrises arose a quiet calling — to distill that horizon-lit calm into scent, transforming fleeting, soul-lit moments into enduring objects of beauty for those drawn toward a gentler, more fluid way of living.
